NU Equestrian competes on the IHSA Hunt Seat Equitation circuit on the flat and over fences. IHSA has 8 different classes, which allows riders of all skill levels to participate. In order to create fair competition, riders are assigned horses by random draw and are not given the opportunity to warm-up before entering the show ring. Depending on a rider's performance throughout the season, he, she or they may have the opportunity to continue competing in Regional, Zone, and National IHSA championships. No matter how well we do, showing is always a lot of fun, builds stellar horsemanship, and brings the team closer together.
